Internet technology has come a long way from 1995 when the web began. Yet, online quote forms may not have evolved as much from those times.

onlineinsurance

We’ve all gotten caught up in the promised simplicity of buying online, but just like when buying shoes or clothes online, you wonder if you should be able to ask more questions before buying.

Just because online quotations seem quicker and easier, that doesn’t mean it is the best way to go.

It is Better to Talk to a Real Person

Online quotes involve presenting website visitors with a quick quote form.  The form contains a minimal number of fields for a reason. Most visitors are too impatient to fill the forms out properly. Therefore insurance companies may simplify the form with a proviso that they’ll check everything and your quoted rate could be adjusted.

An insurance company alone will have only one product to offer visitors (e.g., car insurance). A brokerage will have a variety of insurers to get quotes from. Certainly, a broker can access each insurer’s database and offer up quotes from each one.  It’s the same with life insurance or home insurance.

If You Deserve the Best, then Talk with an Agent

Since online insurance quotes won’t typically collect all the essential information required, they may be preferred by those who would rather not disclose negative details of their driving record or health or whatever. In this case, insurers are taking a chance by offering coverage almost blindly. They must check the applicant’s health and driving records for authenticity and missing info and then try to refuse or requote the policy offer.

If you’re a good driver, you’ll want to make sure the insurance provider has all the essential information and that you get the best car insurance rates possible.

To further ease their potential risk, insurance companies offering online quotes would need to quote high on premiums. Otherwise, they’d have a very low profit margin and would be constantly charging more than they originally quoted. Some will ease that issue by doing high volume policies.

Has this happened to you?  Leave a comment below and let us know about your online quote experience? Were you happy with your rates and coverage?

Ask for Customized Policies – Value is in the Details

insurancepolicyThere are plenty of variables and extra coverages that might benefit you when buying car insurance, home insurance, and life insurance.  And if you combine your policies you stand to save a lot more.

That’s why it makes sense to speak to a real human agent and discuss your specific needs. You have a far better chance to save money and get the coverage you want.

When you order online, you really don’t know what you’re getting or you’re getting a standard policy.

If you worried that a real human agent would only try to increase your rates or give you a hard time, that’s not the way it is. A broker is always trying to help you get what you want. A broker’s agent isn’t concerned with which insurance provider you choose. We want you to have the best coverage possible and to remain a loyal client forever.

Do you have the life, auto, and home insurance coverage you need? Contact us now and discuss how we can help you find the best rates and the coverage you need. From combining policies, to getting quotes from different providers, to adding on coverage to help you manage your risk, we can help.

How do you feel about the new issues in insurance such as usage-based auto insurance, red light cameras, texting and driving penalties, and people who drive without insurance?  Is no fault insurance in Ontario working? How does Ontario’s car insurance rates compare with US auto insurance rates?  She the government raise the speed limits? Let’s hear what you have to say about it in the comments below.
